Things part 3

Clint walked into his flat after a long day at the Auror office, it had been nothing but paperwork after an arrest gone bad. So when he walked in and saw Natasha sitting there, casually having a cup of tea, he groaned and wondered if his day just went from bad to worse.

"I told your landlady that I was an old classmate who was in a bit of a bad spot. And that you were helping me out and that I had lost my key on the way here after buying us dinner." She nodded her head at a bag of Chinese take out as she rolled the cup of tea between her hands.

"I at least waited outside of your apartment when I came to visit you." He threw his stuff on his living room sofa and walked over to the table to look at the take out bag. He started pulling Styrofoam containers out and opening each one to see if anything was suspicious.

Natasha chuckled as she leaned back in the chair she was sitting in. "Maybe that's why you're not the one who ended up in jail."

He rolled his eyes as he took out the last container and dropped it on the table. "You forgot the egg rolls. You still forget to order egg rolls? The key to a peace offering is bringing something I like. Like egg rolls."

She reached her hand under the table, pulling out another container and put it on the table in front of him. Natasha went back to her tea as he opened it up and grumbled something else about egg rolls. He sat down across from her and started eating the food she brought.

They didn't talk while he ate, at least not with words. He gave her a look that usually asked if she spat in his food, she smiled like she had no idea what he was implying. She looked around his sparse apartment and he shrugged to say he didn't need a roommate after seven years in Hogwarts.

Once Clint was done, he cleared the table as she still nursed her tea. She watched him walk around from room to room, looking like he was getting ready to go back out. "Want me to clear out in case you bring your date back here?" She asked as he came out buttoning up a dress shirt with a tie around his neck.

"I'm not that easy of a date 'Tasha, give me some credit." He laughed as he finished his buttoning. She came up to him and turned up his collar before adjusting the length of his tie and started doing a double knot. Once she was finished, she turned his collar down and took a step back.

Natasha gave him a nod of approval but didn't say anything as they stood there in an awkward silence. You obviously break up when one person disappears for a few years but that doesn't mean it's not awkward when they show back up and they see you going out with someone else.

"Clint, I didn't expect you to stay single for the rest of your life. God knows that I didn't." She went to the table, grabbing her cup of tea and moving to the couch to sit there.

He set his jaw at that comment and grabbed his bad that she had sat next to. "Lets save that conversation for another day, okay? You don't have to leave, if you do though, just make sure it's to go back to your place and not to never come back."

She nodded in acknowledgement as he left the apartment, kicking his table as the door shut so he wouldn't notice.
